CROHN’S & COLITIS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA INVITES EVERYONE TO “TAKE STEPS” FOR A CURE Take Steps Fort Lauderdale set for April 5 and Take Steps Miami takes off on May 3. The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) invites the South Florida community to walk for a cure at the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Fort Lauderdale Takes Steps Walk begins April 5, 2014, 9:00 a.m. at the Huizenga Plaza, and Miami Takes Steps Walk kicks off on May 3, at 9:00 a.m. at Bayfront Park (Promenade). The Take Steps walks are part of more than 150 Take Steps walks that are taking place across the country to support the more than 1.4 million Americans (94,000 in Florida) that are affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Supporters are encouraged to create a team and help change the lives of the thousands of people affected locally. In addition to the Walk festivities, there will be free food, drinks, musical entertainment and kids zone featuring bounce houses and fun for the entire family. “The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is proud to host the Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis Walk, the nation's leading walk program for digestive disease research,” said Paula Prendergast, executive director of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s Florida Chapter. “The funds we raise help us fulfill our mission to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as fund life-changing programs and services for the millions of Americans suffering from inflammatory bowel disease.” Take Steps Fort Lauderdale begins April 5 with 9:00 a.m. registration, followed by the 10:30 a.m. walk start at the Huizenga Plaza located at One East Las Olas Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
